Carol

Hey! This is Carol

I am Caroline Mumbua Muasya but I prefer to be called Carol Muasya or as Daddy puts it, Carolinah! I am the first and only child of one Mr. Julius Muasya and Mrs. Margaret Mueni. I am 21 years old. I am a devout Christian, born again and faithfully serving my Lord Jesus Christ as a Praise and Worshipper. I comfortably speak in three languages:Kiswahili, English and my all-time favorite, Kamba.
Currently, I am a third year student at Kenyatta University in the school of Applied Human Sciences, majoring in Community Resource Management and Extension. I am a Co-founder and member of Squad Goals KE, the treasure of Kalamu Africa Initiative , a trained mentor and missions facilitator at Life Ministry Organization, a volunteer at Mwamko Foundation and also an hospitality member at RGC Huruma. I am a business lady dealing with knitted bags which I personally make with the help of my mother, in this case, my business partner.

Tell us about your Passions and Interests
Passion is described as an intense emotion, a compelling enthusiasm or desire for something and if I would use this as my basis of for this question, then oh my, do I have passions! For starters I would say I am crazy about Music. My love for music is celestial. I listen to music every day and like a plate of Githeri coupled with an avocado (chuckles); my daily chores are coupled with the tunes of fine Music. Second to that is Cooking. Oh God bless the person who invented the kitchen. I so love cooking and you can bet. My third Passion would have to be for Children. Yeah I know it’s crazy considering I don’t any of my own, YET, but I look forward to it. To me children are an embodiment of innocence, joy and life. They are always so lively. We can learn a lot from them because unlike us adults who are always constrained with the cares of life, they live in utter simplicity.

What are your Hobbies
In terms of hobbies, let me begin with Art, creative art to be specific. I enjoy looking at portraits both expressive and demonstrative, like abstracts and drawings of humanity. My crib can be likened to an art gallery; you’ll see several portraits everywhere from different artists, my favorite being Frank art Sketches. I also enjoy singing, my favorite genre being gospel. I am an alto and usually sing at key A. The business lady in me enjoys knitting a lot. I can spend a whole day knitting bags while incorporating the unique blend of colors. I love fashion and with that comes the love for photography. I’m a photogenic. Get the camera and tell me to pose right now because that’s my thing.

What Projects are you currently working on...
Currently I have a lot going for me. Firstly, I’m working on a project dubbed “Dress up a Child.” Dress up a Child is program tailored for the poor and street children. It aims to provide one of the basic human needs; Clothing. The other project would be joining music school to learn various instruments, the acoustic guitar and keyboard being a personal favorite. I am also working on mobilizing Kalamu Africa Initiative members for an upcoming event dubbed “Cycle for Education” and also renewal of member registration.

What is your Greatest Fear
My greatest fear would have to be Failure. The thought of failing, whether it be an examination or a test or even marriage, really frightens me but amidst the fear I usually encourage myself to face all things with boldness. It’s the Christ in me that keeps me going.
One of my greatest failures was giving up on The Mwamko Children Centre. Being there I experienced a lot of friction between the management and myself but instead of addressing the issues at hand, I left the program, entirely. This to me has always presented itself as a huge failure on my part.

What has been the Greatest Challenge for you to overcome Overcome so far
Given my fear of failure , I tend to have a lot of self-doubt. I’m always second guessing myself. Before I can make a move I doubt it, I doubt myself. This has been my greatest challenge to overcome and I am glad I’m making substantial progress.

Paint us a Picture of Carol in five years
In the next 5 years, I see myself expounding the MAG-C Knitted Bags business to a much larger market. I’m also thinking of establishing Carol’s Kitchen, a cooking brand. Of cause there’s also marriage and getting kids. I also anticipate growth in my music ministry, being able to do more and be more; it’s all about reaching new heights. I also want to be a role model in society. I want to be that lady that inspires confidence and courage in fellow women. An icon in society.
