Mariah

Formerly introduce us to Maria
Maria Syokau Mutisya is a 21year old Kenyan. Last born in a family of five. She is a daughter to Peter Mbalu and Catherine Ndunge and a sister to Joseph Mbalu and George Nzivo. Maria is saved and passionate about Christ.
I went to Mitaboni ABC Secondary School. I am currently at Kiriri Women's University of Science and Technology, pursuing a Degree in Business Administration , majoring in Finance. I am a graduate of Mwelu Foundation having done a course in photography.
I'm privileged to serve as the class representative of my class in campus. I am a Co-Founder of Squad Goals Ke Initiative.  I also serve in the secretariat  for both Kalamu Africa Initiative and Jeshy Family Sacco. Most exciting for me, is that I'm now a  partner at  Main Light Ltd Co. , photography model with Legacy  Photography and a brand ambassador with Blue Bella Botique.

Tell us about your passions and interests...
They say am a church girl. Quite so. My heart is all out for ministry, particularly worship and intercession. Yes. Intercession. I girl got to hit the floor you know. (Laughs). As for worship, my voice is a work in progress, if at all, but my heart, soaks in His presence.
I  am passionate about art, performed art. I'm a gifted actress, mostly doing stage plays and music videos.  Talking of music videos, am on my fifth album. (Laughs). At some point of my life I fell in love with the camera, but loved it's front more. Photography modeling has slowly but surely become a part of me: to the point of no return. (Blushes) . Oh, and am discovering the MC in me. Corporate events moderation is turning out to be a lot of fun.

What are your Hobbies...
Oh my!  I take delight in the fine things of this life. Anything that sends a spark to my life, it's an item of interest. They say am an all- out, super-hyper-kid. Confirmed. I love hanging out. I love making friends. I have an ear for good music. Worship does it for me. I also have a taste for good food: did I say that am a good cook? No I didn't. (Laughs)
At times I enjoy some me-time with a good movie. Talk FBI and Magic (chuckles). I enjoy traveling. Much. My goal is to travel the whole of Kenya and possibly Africa before I consider settling down.

What is your Greatest fear...
(Pause)
I love my family and I appreciate every sacrifice they make for me. To be where I am, I owe it to them. I would hate to disappoint them. In whatever way. I would hate to fail them.

Do you have a weakness that you could share with us?
Procrastination. I can even procrastinate breathing given the chance (sulks).  I'm learning to be apt about things. To be bold to make decisions and carrying out tasks as called to. Keeping a diary is quite helpful.

What is the biggest challenge have you had to overcome so far...
(Pause)
Challenges!
Well, some people are not as lucky as to be born with a golden spoon in their mouths. Some of  have had to learn to fight. To take to war for almost everything. To struggle their way to the top. And I, I am part of these.

What is your one strength you are proud of...
I am a fighter. Life has taught me the beauty of resilience. To be tough, yet so tender.

What are you working on currently....
I'm in school. Going to my third year of campus. My love for mathematics is growing by the day. You are looking at the best financial consultant, yet. I am also taking my modeling to another level. I'll be contesting for Miss Photogenic Kenya, by Photomagic Studios. With my partners at Mainlight Ltd, we are doing some pitching for advertisement and product promotion. I'm also organising a funddrive project for Kalamu Africa Initiative dubbed, cycle for education, set for November. I'm already so excited.
Finally and most importantly, I'm a young girl under discipleship. It matters most to me that I grow not only in my giftings, but more,  in intimacy with my Lord. Nothing can beat that.

Paint us a picture of you in five years...
(pause)
Hard question. But well, I'll be done with my undergraduate degree in Financial Management, and consulting for the same. I'm not yet clear on what else I want to do in that line.
I also hope to have traveled Kenya, entirely and started on Africa and probably the world. Learning different cultures, connecting with people in their diversities. Of course, documenting every moment with my camera.
In five years, I look to being an icon in photography modeling and advertising.
